Cat's tail moving

Reading a cat's tail movements is very important to any cat lover, as it allows us to understand what they need to communicate. Cats are often considered arrogant, aloof pets. This reputation is undeserved in most cases. It is much more likely we do not recognize how the cat is communicating with us. Knowing how to read your cat's tail movements can make all the difference in the world. Suddenly, that "arrogant" cat becomes a funny, and engaging creature.
Here are six things that your cat's tail is telling you:
1. A shivering tail can mean different things depending on where the shivering is going on. If it is towards the end of the tail, then chances are you are irritating him. A cat that shivers his entire tail is quite happy and excited.
2. Have you ever watched your cat swish? A quick flipping of the tail back and forth shows that the kitty is on the hunt. This is actually something that the large cats do in the wild. They will flip a tail back and forth to cause prey to make a move. House cats like to do it when they are stalking that shoe string.
3. What does your cat's tail do while they are sleeping? Do they flip it up and down on the floor, or do they keep it perfectly still? Usually a moving tail while sleeping means that they are stalking something in their dreams. This also applies to a twitching paw or two.
4. Does your cat slash back and forth with their tail? A cat tail that is flipping wildly means to back up. They do not want to play anymore, and want to be left alone. This is a characteristic of the dominant cat.
5. Does your cat hold their tail high in the air for all to see? This is definitely a good, healthy sign as it means that kitty is at home and comfortable. A cat that keeps its tail between its legs, or down is usually unhealthy or uncertain.
6. Have you ever been sitting in your favorite chair when your cat happens by and wraps his tail around your leg lovingly? This means they love you and want some affection. This loving cat gesture is one of the best reasons to own a cat. No drool, and no barking. Just a loving tail wrapped around your leg.
If you know what to look for, you can see everything your cat is trying to tell you by watching their tail. Sit down one evening and just watch them. It is fascinating to see this wonderful feline communication at work.
