How long do cats live ?

Like humans, a cat goes through various life stages. The different stages are much shorter than a human due to a cat's life span.

During the first few weeks after birth, a kitten will gain 3 ounces a week. Its main source of nourishment is its mother's milk. The mother will keep it warm and clean, licking it from head to toe. At 3 weeks, the kitten will be able to stand, eat solid food and use a litter box. At 4 weeks, it will begin to walk and use its tail for balance. Soon after, it is jumping and climbing. At 6 weeks, it is fully weaned. Between 8 to 12 weeks, it can be separated from the litter completing most of its physical development.

Cat's Life Stages

Both humans and dogs have the same three senses: sight, hearing and smelling, however while most humans communicate by hearing, seeing, and then smelling, dogs primarily communicate by smelling, seeing and lastly hearing. Dogs also have a universal sense which humans do not have, where they can feel the energy (emotions) of the other beings around them.

The statistics below will vary slightly with different types of breeds, for example a sight hound may have slightly better vision and a coonhound type of dog may have a slightly better sense of smell than other types.

A cat's vision is superior at night to ours but inferior in daylight. Cats have a slightly larger field of view than humans. We have a similar range of hearing at low frequencies, but cats can hear much higher-pitched sounds.

Dogs come not only in different breeds (there are hundreds if not thousands of breeds of dog), but different types as well. And no, not "big and little" or "short hair or long haired", although those occasionally play a part in how the animal will be classified. The type of dog is determined on what the dog will be used for. The two main types of dog are working dogs and non-working dogs, but these are split into several categories, each with their own subcategories.
